Visit the captivating Valley of the Kings also known as Valley of the Gates of the Kings. For a period of about 500 years from the 16th to 11th Century BC, rock-cut tombs were excavated for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. The valley is known to contain 63 tombs and chambers decorated with scenes of Egyptian Mythology and gives clues as to the beliefs and funerary rituals of the period. It includes tombs of some well-known Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs like Tutankhamun, Ramses IV, Ramses II, and Seti I, among others.

Head to the Hatshepsut Temple, one of the most impressive achievements of Queen Hatshepsut. She ruled Egypt during the 18th dynasty and died in 1458 BC. The temple is located in the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari on the west bank of the Nile near the Valley of the Kings. It is considered one of the incomparable monuments of Ancient Egypt, a true masterpiece.

Proceed to Colossi of Memnon. These are two stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned in Egypt during the 18th dynasty. The original function of the Colossi was to stand guard at the entrance to Amenhotep’s memorial temple, a massive construction built during the Pharaoh’s lifetime. Today, with the exception of the Colossi, very little remains of Amenhotep’s temple which stood on the edge of the Nile floodplain where successive annual inundations gnawed away at its foundation. The temple was destroyed by natural disasters.

After the thrilling tour of Luxor, you will be transferred back to your Nile Cruise to have your lunch while sailing and spend the rest of your day and overnight onboard.

Day 6: Nile River Cruise - Edfu & Kom Ombo

After breakfast, join your tour guide in a horse carriage to transfer to some amazing sites located on the West Bank of the Nile.

Visit Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved shrines in Egypt. Built between 237 BC and 57 BC during the Ptolemaic Kingdom, the temple has inscriptions on the walls depicting some of the most useful information about language, myth, and religion during the Hellenistic era in Egypt.

You will return to your Nile Cruise and sail towards Kom Ombo. Upon arrival, join your guide to visit the Kom Ombo Temple, a unique double temple that was also built during the Ptolemaic dynasty between 180 and 47 BC. It has some additions that were made to it during the Roman era. The temple is unusual because everything is perfectly symmetrical along the main axis. A few of the three hundred crocodile mummies discovered in the vicinity are displayed in the crocodile museum.

After finishing your memorable tour of Edfu and Kom Ombo, you will be transferred back to your deluxe Nile Cruise and sail towards Aswan. Upon arrival, you will spend the night aboard your Nile Cruise.

Day 7: Nile River Cruise - Aswan

After a luscious breakfast, you will head to the Nubian City of Aswan to explore Aswan’s allures, one of the highlights of the tour.

Visit Aswan High Dam, the world’s largest embankment Dam built across the river Nile between 1960 and 1970. Following the Egyptian Revolution, the dam was seen as pivotal to Egypt"s planned industrialization with its construction resulting in protection from floods and droughts, increasing water storage for irrigation in its reservoir lake Nasser, enhancing in agricultural production, employment rate, electricity production, benefitting navigation also tourism. Lake Nasser is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world and is a major lifeline for Thousands of people in Southern Egypt and Northern Sudan.

Continue to tour The Unfinished Obelisk, the largest obelisk in Ancient times. Believed to have been commissioned by the female Pharaoh Hatshepsut in the 18th dynasty (more than 3,500 years ago), the unfinished Obelisk is an incredible look at the building methods of these Ancient monuments typically placed at the entrances of temples. Lying as a sleeping giant in a bed of granite, the Unfinished Obelisk would be about 137 ft (42 meters) long if completed and is estimated to weigh around 1,200 tons, a true hallmark of Ancient Egyptian ingenuity and engineering.

Explore Philae Temple, the last temple built in the classical Egyptian style. Constructed from around 690 BC during the reign of Ptolemy II (Egypt’s Greco-Roman Period), the temple originally located near the expansive First Cataract of the Nile which was the site of an Egyptian temple complex. It was later transferred to its current location on Agilkia Island in Lake Naser between 1977 and 1980 under a UNESCO project to save it from the destructive effect of the ever-increasing waters of the Nile. Philae Temple was a prominent site of pilgrimage not only for Egyptians and Nubians but for pilgrims from as far as Anatolia, Crete and the Greek mainland. Some of these pilgrims marked their presence with inscriptions on the temple walls among which are inscriptions left by four Romans in 116 BC, which represent the oldest known inscriptions in Egypt.

Egyptian cotton is world famous and never miss out the opportunity to explore the local workshop in Aswan to get first hand information.
