Day 1: Depart from USA

Depart from the USA.

 *Note: Depending on your departure city, you may need to depart one day earlier than the itinerary departure date. Your flight schedule will be provided once your ticket is issued.

Day 2: Arrive in Delhi

Upon your arrival at Delhi"s International Airport, a UTOvacation representative will be there to meet and greet you, and transfer you to your hotel.

Please note that the normal check-in time at the hotel is 2:00 pm.

Delhi, the capital city of India, is a vibrant metropolis that seamlessly blends the ancient with the modern. Situated on the west bank of the Yamuna River, between the Aravali hills and the Himalayas, this city has been strategically located on the route from the northwest frontier to the fertile Ganges plains for over two millennia. Its location has made it a seat of power for successive dynasties throughout history.

After your arrival, the remainder of the day is yours to relax and unwind at the hotel.


Day 3: Delhi

Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a full-day tour of Delhi. 

The tour of Old Delhi includes a drive past the imposing Red Fort, a visit to India"s largest mosque - Jama Masjid, followed by a cycle rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk and a visit to Raj Ghat.

The Red Fort, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1648, is a sprawling fort of red sandstones along the Yamuna River. Jama Masjid, commissioned by Shah Jahan and completed in 1656, is the country"s largest and most famous mosque.

The tour continues to New Delhi with a visit to Humayun"s Tomb, the first Mughal garden tomb and a stunning architectural marvel similar to the Taj Mahal. You"ll also see the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, and India Gate - a famous war memorial located at the east end of Rajpath.

The tour ends with a visit to Agrasen Ki Baoli, a stepwell in the center of the city, and Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, a prominent Sikh temple.

Day 4: Delhi - Jaipur

Indulge in a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a scenic 5-6 hour drive to Jaipur, covering approximately 265 kilometers.

Upon arrival in Jaipur, check-in at your hotel and immerse yourself in the city"s rich history and culture. The city was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, an avid astronomer who planned the city"s layout with surrounding walls and six rectangular blocks based on ancient Hindu principles of town planning and architecture.

The rest of the day is yours to relax and unwind at the hotel or explore the vibrant local bazaars, offering a colorful array of handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry. Explore the city"s rich cultural heritage and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Jaipur at your leisure.

Day 5: Jaipur

Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a full-day tour of Jaipur. Visit the magnificent Amber Fort, which blends Hindu and Mughal architectural styles and is set amidst rugged hills. Afterward, explore Jaipur city, starting with a drive or visit to the Palace of Winds, also known as Hawa Mahal, completed in 1799 to allow the sequestered ladies of the court to observe city life through its perforated screen façade.

Next, head to the City Palace complex, an opulent showplace of Hindu and Mughal architecture that houses a museum with evidence of past grandeur. Adjacent to the palace is Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh between 1728 and 1734, featuring astronomical instruments beyond its time.

After the tour, spend the rest of the day at leisure, either relaxing at the hotel or exploring local markets. 

Day 6: Jaipur - Agra

Drive from your hotel to Agra, stopping en-route to visit the Abhaneri Stepwell (approx. 240 km, 6-7 hrs including visit). Chand Baori is India"s most famous stepwell, believed to be one of the largest in the world, located in the village of Abhaneri. It was built by Raja Chand between the 8th and 9th century to solve the water problem of the arid region.

Upon arrival in Agra, check-in at your hotel. Agra is a city rich in history and culture, having been the center of art, commerce, and learning during the reign of the great Mughal monarchs Akbar, Jehangir, and Shah Jehan. The city is home to some of the most magnificent architectural wonders in the world, including the Taj Mahal, the most extravagant monument ever built for love.

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax at the hotel or take an optional tour to visit the Tomb of Itimad-ud-daulah and witness the Taj Mahal at sunset from Taj View Point. The Tomb of Itimad-Ud-Daulah is a masterpiece of the Mughal tombs built in white marble, marking the transition from red sandstone buildings of Mughal architecture. This optional tour also includes a visit to the villa and garden of Sikandra.

Day 7: Agra - Delhi

Visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise, an architectural masterpiece and symbol of love built by Emperor Shah Jehan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Constructed over 22 years with 20,000 workers and expert craftsmen, the mausoleum is part of a vast complex featuring a main gateway, garden, mosque, and other palatial buildings.

After your visit, return to your hotel for breakfast and then proceed to explore the Agra Fort, built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar and developed by his successors in 1565. Later, visit a nearby marble inlay unit and enjoy a delicious lunch before driving to Delhi, the bustling capital city of India that combines ancient and modern elements.

Check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure exploring Delhi or relaxing. With its strategic location on the Yamuna River and prime seat of power for successive dynasties, Delhi has commanded the route from the northwest frontier to the Ganges plains for over 2,000 years.

Day 8: Delhi, India - Colombo, Sri Lanka

Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel before being transferred to the Delhi international terminal for your onward flight.

Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, meet your English-speaking guide who will accompany you throughout the trip. Begin with a city tour of Colombo, the bustling commercial capital that drives over 50% of the national GDP. Drive along the clean streets to see the crystal white Race Course, now a hub for clothing, food, and tea boutiques. Visit the Pettah Floating Market or the upcoming Colombo Port City featuring parks, commercial complexes, and an F1 track. Head towards the historic Independence Square, now a trendy shopping and hangout zone with designer boutiques and top-notch cuisine outlets. Have a chilled beer at the Dutch Hospital or explore Colombo"s nightlife with its nightclubs and casinos. End the day with an exhibition at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall or enjoy an opera or play at Nelum Pokuna.

Day 9: Colombo – Sigiriya

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Dambulla and check-in to the hotel.

In the afternoon, visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a 5th century rock citadel of King Kasyapa and a World Heritage Site. As you climb the rock fortress, witness the ancient Sri Lankan engineering and urban planning skills, and appreciate the art and culture reflected in the magnificent monument. The Lion Rock, resembling the mythological "City of Gods," overlooks the symmetrical royal gardens below and is surrounded by ramparts and moats. Marvel at the frescoes, resembling the Gupta style paintings found in the Ajanta caves of India. Walk through the eminent "mirror wall" that embraces the Western face of Sigiriya, coated by graffiti that has been preserved for hundreds of years.

Afterward, transfer from Sigiriya to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10: Habarana – Polonnaruwa - Minneriya

After breakfast, visit the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, the second kingdom of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the iconic man-made reservoir, "Parakrama Samudra," and explore the ruins of ancient palaces, intricately carved moon stones, and royal baths. Look out for the famous Gal Viharaya or "Rock Temple" with four colossal Buddha statues carved into the stone, reflecting peace, serenity, and strength.

After the tour, head to Minneriya National Park for a safari to witness the largest elephant gathering in the world, with over 300 elephants at a time. Park your jeep on the bank of the reservoir and watch as the elephants roll onto the grassy banks to feed on tender shoots. The park is also home to herds of deer and abundant birdlife.

Overnight at Habarana Village after a thrilling day of exploring ancient sites and experiencing Sri Lanka"s wildlife.

Day 11: Habarana - Matale – Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Dambulla to visit the Ancient Cave Temple. The temple houses unique drawings in five magnificently constructed cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla. Observe the exquisitely done cave paintings along walls that shelter 150 statues of Lord Buddha.

On completion, en-route to Kandy, visit a Spice Garden in Matale where you can learn about the therapeutic values of spices and enjoy a refreshing cup of herbal tea.

In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings and a World Heritage Site. The temple holds the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha, an important part of ancient Kandyan legacy. You can also explore the Kandy City Centre, an area featuring world-class brands, a bazaar, an arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and lapidary. walk in color as you glide through fresh fruits and vegetables in the Kandy market. 

Day 12: Kandy - Bentota

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, take a 20-minute transfer to Peradeniya to visit the renowned Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. This 147-acre garden is a national treasure, featuring well-tended lawns, pavilions, and a conservatory. Take a break to admire the landscaped greenery, and visit highlights such as the orchid house and the giant Javan fig tree. Before leaving, stop by the cafeteria located in the northern part of the entrance.

Next, embark on a five-hour transfer to Bentota, with an optional visit to the Balapitiya boat ride or Turtle Hatchery.

Upon arrival, check-in at the Hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
